Very proud of Canada
Learned this from a young age
Every conservative Canadian knows it by heart: of all the countries in the world, only one is the best, and that's Canada. The obviousness of this opinion sometimes strikes people from other countries as a bit silly.
It's no wonder Canadians feel this way about their own country. It's literally drilled into them at almost every opportunity. At school, at home, by the government.
Anyone in Canada who even dares to doubt that Canada isn't the best country in the world is immediately looked at strangely.
The mere fact that so many immigrants are coming to Canada is a constant reminder that it must be the best country on earth. Otherwise, they wouldn't have come, would they? And there are so many more who would also love to move to Canada. What more proof do you need?
Pride, patriotism, chauvinism and a conservative streak, a bit of everything
The national anthem is sung every day at school. It's also sung at many sporting events. Perhaps at other gatherings as well.
The Canadian flag is seen almost everywhere. Expressions that Canada is the best country on earth can be found in the most unlikely places. Questioning this is frowned upon.
People often cite studies and surveys that rank the livability and attractiveness of various countries and cities. Do you know who the winner is, and who wins every time?
Hopefully, you won't even think of criticizing Canada. That won't make you any friends.
Even if you broach things that are done differently elsewhere, you're immediately met with grudging resistance. How dare you!
Anyone who isn't convinced that everything is done better in Canada than anywhere else should just shut up. Canada doesn't need to learn anything from other countries, because as it is now, it can't really be any better.
This explains Canada's conservative nature. As it is, so it must remain.
From the Promised Land
Perhaps it would be fun to reread our main article about "The Promised Land." Because yes, Canada is indeed a wonderful country.
But surely no one should be ashamed that there are things that could perhaps be better? Surely no one should be offended by that?
Really, what happens in other countries isn't always entirely wrong. Perhaps, every now and then, we could even learn something from it.
